My Story
Natalie Reidy is joining the Making Waves Foundation Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race campaign to champion disability inclusion and challenge perceptions of what people living with disability can achieve. Her connection to the cause is deeply personal through her 10-year-old son, Quinn, who lives with severe autism, global developmental delay and significant communication challenges.
Natalie’s commitment began with Quinn’s first sail aboard Making Waves’ Wot Eva in Geelong. Initially anxious, he soon relaxed once underway, finishing with an enormous smile. For Natalie, it showed the power of sailing to create confidence, connection and belonging.
An experienced club and offshore sailor who has completed the Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race, Natalie sees the Sydney Hobart as a long-held dream — and an opportunity to be part of a crew where 50 per cent of participants live with disability.
Through the journey, Natalie hopes to inspire others and show that inclusion creates opportunities for people to be trusted, challenged and recognised for their capability.
