My Story
Brad’s passion for sailing and prior participation in Wright of Passage led him to join the MWF Sydney to Hobart campaign.

At just 18 years old, Brad is about to achieve something extraordinary—he’ll be one of the youngest competitors in the legendary Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race this Boxing Day. The minimum age to participate is 18, and Brad will be celebrating this milestone as he takes his place on the crew.

Brad’s journey began simply—with a question through a fence:
"Can I join?"

That question changed everything. Through the Making Waves Foundation’s programs, starting with Winds of Inspiration and progressing all the way through Wright of Passage, Brad will become the first participant in the nation to complete every stage and reach this level of offshore competition.

This year, Brad will be one of the youngest ever crew members in the race at 18, joining a team where half the sailors live with disability—a powerful testament to inclusion and teamwork and balance his final year of school (Year 12 in Geelong) with intensive offshore training in preparation for this world-renowned and demanding event.

Good luck, Brad, from the Making Waves Foundation!
